About the petition

Save South Boulder has concluded that because of the magnitude of the “CU South” annexation, lack of a site plan, enormous costs, and failure of city council to act in the best interests of citizens, Boulder voters should get to vote on any annexation agreement. This is why Save South Boulder is collecting signatures to get our “Let Boulder Voters Decide on the Annexation of “CU South” petition on the November ballot.

The impacts of annexation and CU’s subsequent development of a massive new campus, roughly the size of main campus, much of it in or adjacent to the South Boulder floodplain, would be devastating. These impacts include: making the city subsidize its development, much of which is in or adjacent to the floodplain; inadequate and expensive flood mitigation; loss of open space; loss of wildlife and habitat; loss of incomparable recreational opportunities; the ruin of iconic mountain views; and a big increase in traffic congestion in south Boulder, to name a few.
